Terms of Service

The rules that govern the use of Cosanta Wallet and this website. Please read them carefully — they define what the Software is, what it is not, and where your responsibilities begin.

Last updated: September 2026

1. Acceptance of terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Cosanta Wallet (“the Software”), this website (cosantawallet.com) and any related documentation or communication channels, provided by the Cosanta Wallet project (“we”, “us”, “our”).

By downloading, installing, copying or using the Software, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of them, you must not download, install or use the Software.

Plain-language summary

Use the wallet at your own risk, keep your recovery phrase safe, and remember that no one — including us — can access, move or recover your funds.

2. Non-custodial nature of the Software

Cosanta Wallet is non-custodial software. We do not hold, store, transmit or have access to your private keys, recovery phrases, spending passwords, wallet balances or transaction data. All cryptographic material is generated and stored exclusively on your own device and never leaves it.

Because we never hold your assets, we cannot access, freeze, block, reverse or recover any transaction or balance under any circumstances. There is no customer support function capable of restoring a lost wallet, resetting a password or cancelling a transaction. The Software is a tool that interacts with the public Cosanta network; it is not an exchange, custodian, bank or payment service.

You are the only custodian

Whoever holds your recovery phrase holds your funds. If you lose the phrase and the device, the funds are permanently unreachable by anyone.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, to use the Software. By using it, you represent that you are legally permitted to own, hold and transact in cryptocurrencies under the laws that apply to you, and that you are not a person or entity restricted from using the Software under applicable sanctions or law.

4. Your responsibilities

As the sole custodian of your wallet, you are solely responsible for:

  • Safeguarding your recovery phrase and any backups — on paper, offline, in a secure location.
  • Securing the device on which the wallet is installed, including malware protection and disk encryption.
  • Verifying recipient addresses before signing and broadcasting any transaction — blockchain transactions are irreversible.
  • Setting a strong spending password and never sharing it, your recovery phrase or exported keys with anyone.
  • Complying with all tax, accounting and reporting obligations in your jurisdiction.
  • Using only official builds downloaded from this website or verified project repositories.

5. No financial or legal advice

Nothing in the Software, on this website or in any related communication constitutes financial, investment, legal, accounting or tax advice, nor a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any asset. Cryptocurrencies are highly volatile and may lose all of their value. Any decision to acquire, hold or transact in COSA or any other asset is made entirely at your own risk and discretion.

6. Software provided “as is”

The Software is provided “as is” and “as available”, with all faults and without warranties or conditions of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, uninterrupted operation or error-free performance.

We do not warrant that the Software will be compatible with every device or configuration, that network synchronization will always succeed, or that defects will be corrected. Open-source software evolves through community contributions; features, interfaces and behaviour may change between releases.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall the Cosanta Wallet project, its contributors or maintainers be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive or consequential damages whatsoever — including loss of funds, loss of keys, loss of data, loss of profits, loss of goodwill or business interruption — arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Software or this website, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

In jurisdictions where the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages is not permitted, our total cumulative liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Software — which, as the Software is distributed free of charge, shall be zero.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Cosanta Wallet project, its contributors and maintainers from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your use of the Software, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.

9. Open-source licence

The Software's source code is released under its applicable open-source licence (MIT). Nothing in these Terms removes, limits or supersedes any right granted to you under that licence with respect to the source code itself. In the event of any conflict between these Terms and the licence regarding the use of the source code, the licence governs.

The Cosanta Wallet name, logo and website design remain the property of the project and may not be used to imply endorsement without prior permission.

10. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Software or this website for any unlawful purpose, including money laundering, financing of terrorism, fraud, sanctions evasion or the distribution of malware. You agree not to attempt to disrupt the Cosanta network, distribute tampered builds of the wallet, or misrepresent yourself as an affiliate, employee or official representative of the project.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in the Software, the law or our practices. The current version is always published on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Software or this website after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you must stop using the Software.

12. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent to support@cosantawallet.com. Please note that, as stated above, we cannot assist with recovering wallets, resetting passwords or reversing transactions.
